Around 25,000 households in Queensland's southeast were left without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the area, generating strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.

Large Ice Stones and Widespread Destruction

Residents witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. Meteorological experts verified that multiple regions across the state had been hit with significant hail.

Response teams were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the damaged zones, with dozens of response units working to address the widespread outages.

Victorian Climate Difficulties

Meanwhile, around 1,000 residents in the southern state also experienced electricity disruptions after the capital city recorded its wettest day in 18 months.

Emergency response teams responded to nearly 600 emergency reports across the state, mainly for building damage but also for fallen timber and inundation.

At the height on the previous day, over twenty-eight thousand energy customers in Victoria were without power.

Meteorological Predictions

Moist weather were predicted to continue along large portions of the state's eastern regions this next several days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the coast.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the most rainy day, with persistent thunderstorm potential predicted across different parts of both areas.

Health Warning

Health officials cautioned that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, particularly given the existing atmospheric conditions.

This alert comes after past events where analogous circumstances led to substantial respiratory problems in the state.
